Yicheng Guan majored in Physics at Tsinghua University and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2015. From 2015 to 2017, he is enrolled as a Master student in the department of Applied Physics at the University of Tokyo under the supervision of Prof. Daichi Chiba. In 2018, he started his PhD in Max Planck Institute in Halle for spintronic research. During his PhD, he worked mainly on the current-driven magnetic dynamics of magnetic nano-structures and in 2021, he obtained his PhD degree. In 2022, he joined the Max Planck Institute in Halle as a postdoctoral researcher and focuses on the development of spintronic materials and devices as well as effective manipulation of physical properties of materials.

Main Research Interests

Our research interests lie in the exploration of efficient current-induced magnetic dynamics for spintronic applications as well as effective manipulation of physical properties of materials, namely, the electric field effects. For the time being, we mainly focus on the magneto-optical detection of magnetic properties and dynamics in a wide range of materials from metal, oxides and 2D van der Waals materials to investigate not only the rich physics of interplays between magnetism, ion doping and current-to-spin conversion but also build prototype of future spintronic and magneto-ionic memory and logic devices.
