First joint Ph.D. event on campus
Ph.D. Meeting - MPIMSP and IMWS
For networking purposes, the Ph.D. students of Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics (MPIMSP) and of Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (IMWS) came together on 10.10.2023 to strengthen the professional exchange.
Many different institutions and companies conduct research at the Technologiepark Weinberg Campus, but they do have some overlaps. In particular, the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics and the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems have thematic crossovers with the research areas microstructure physics and microstructure of materials. But there are also practical similarities, like Ph.D. students at both institutes eventually having the same challenges and experiences during their dissertation phase.
The day commenced with guided lab tours, offering a glimpse into the labs of Fraunhofer IMWS and the Max Planck Institute, followed by short presentations from Ph.D. students, highlighting their research. The event offered the opportunity for participants to engaged in a team activity, promoting collaboration and networking. It was a chance for everyone to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential avenues for future collaboration. As a closing to this wonderful first joint Ph.D. event attendees gathered for a screening of "One Day in Europe", a film directed by Hannes Stoehr.
